Flat Barnubus Soars with Eagles

Imagine popping out of your safe and comfortable envelope to this: a cat controlling a canine.

Flat Barnubus quickly sprang into protective mode and slid behind Hunter's cousin Ashlyn's cat painting, just in case that cat turned it's ears towards him.  Peeking out, he timidly asked, "Is it safe?"

"Of course!"

We quickly made friend friends with the softest cat in the world, who gave up her favorite cushion so Flat Barnubus could be safely tucked in for his first night at Gramma and Grampa's house. It would be a long day tomorrow at school, and he could hardly get to sleep until that same cat purred a soft lullaby to send Flat Barnubus into dreamland.

What would Hunter do? He'd be brave and think of the great day ahead.

Morning arrived, and wouldn't you know it! Just when he thought this traveling visit would be a breeze, Flat Barnubus discovered he still had chores! Luckily, watering Ashlyn's herb garden was easy as spraying Hunter's brother Dillon with the sprinkler.

Next stop: a third grade classroom.

Here's what we did:

Writing, Spelling, Math

Reading

Flat Barnubus loved their story. Can you guess what it is about?

Next Flat Barnubus joined the writing class in grade seven! Oh my, those kids can write poetry, and they are huge!

Here's one of his favorites!

You will never believe what happened next! On the way to lunch, Gramma (Ms Edwards at school), jumbled an armload of books and papers and dropped her keys on the floor just as the door closed and locked!

Luckily, Flat Barnubus could slip right under the door, grab the keys, and unlock the door for her. Flat Barnubus had saved the day!

He also spent some time helping tidy up the place. He spotted these broken pencils and picked them up to save them from certain destruction and placed them in a pencil container, ready to be repaired.

In fact, he decided to visit the principal/superintendent, Mr. Adkins where he discovered a friendly face and new pencils!

Just before the end of the day, he met two friends in the eighth grade! Both of them are wrestlers!

Jamon took first place at this tournament.

And Sekin shared lockers with him -- notice the wrestling signs!
While Gramma (Ms Edwards) graded papers, Flat Barnubus helped kids with homework in the After School Program (complete with Goldfish snacks).

He quickly found the gym to join the kids in the Run Walk Club where students prepare for Spokane's Bloomsday Race.

 His exercises:

Starts with Neck Exercises

Gets help with right and left hand stretch exercises

In the middle of exercizing, Flat Barnubus heard the drumming and beat of Pow Wow music. He decided to join the Eaglet Dancers.

He danced with the Native American Eaglet Dancers who were practicing for their presentation on Earth Day! I wonder what Hunter is doing to help the Earth on Earth Day?

Oh my! Here he feels a little small in the empty gym when every one leaves on the bus.

But Brave Flat Barnubus finds his own forest on the way back to Gramma's room, and he

Finds a wonderful door...
 and

he enjoys the picture of the Colville Tribal veterans, who served our country.

Finally, Gramma and Flat Barnubus attended a webinar!

The earphones helped a lot. Ear buds -- always carry them with you!

On the way home, Flat Barnubus said he had followed the rules on the bulletin board and didn't get into any trouble. It was easy -- he know those rules because Hunter, Dillon, and Hannah follow rules just like that at their school.

Finally, Gramma and Grampa continue working at home while Flat Barnubus listens to the tap tap tap of the keys while resting with his favorite friend, Pooka. Good night!

Flat Barnubus now dreams, "Go Eagles! Thanks, Eagles!" zzzzzzzzz....
